MBP is proud to confirm that Jake Hughes will make his debut in endurance racing in the 2026 European Le Mans Series (ELMS), joining Algarve Pro Racing’s LMP2 programme alongside Tristan Vautier and Matthias Kaiser.
The Birmingham-born driver steps into prototype competition as part of Algarve Pro Racing’s #25 ORECA 07-Gibson entry, with the team firmly targeting championship success in one of the most competitive grids in global endurance racing.
Hughes arrives with an impressive single-seater pedigree, most recently competing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with Maserati MSG Racing, alongside his role as Test and Simulator Driver for the McLaren Formula 1 Team.
A former BRDC Formula 4 Champion, Hughes built his reputation through consistent success across Formula Renault, GP3 and FIA Formula 3, before progressing to FIA Formula 2 and Formula E, where he secured multiple pole positions and podium finishes. He also holds a Guinness World Record for the fastest speed achieved indoors, reaching 135.9mph during the 2023 London E-Prix.
Now, he embarks on a long-anticipated transition into endurance racing.
Jake Hughes said:
“I’ve been pushing towards endurance racing for several years, so to join Algarve Pro Racing for the 2026 ELMS is something I’m incredibly proud of. The team has a proven track record at the highest level, and while the competition is extremely strong, our focus is firmly on fighting for wins and the championship.
“I immediately felt comfortable in the LMP2 car during testing, and working alongside Tristan and Matthias gives us a really strong foundation. I’ll be giving everything to make this season a success.”
Mark Blundell, CEO and Founder of MBP, commented:
“It has long been a priority for us to help Jake build his sportscar and endurance racing resume, and this gives him a great opportunity to do exactly that this year in a strong lineup with a fantastic team in Algarve Pro Racing. We are all looking forward to supporting Jake as he steps into this new chapter.”
Hughes joins an experienced and proven line-up in Vautier and Kaiser, combining youth, adaptability and endurance expertise as Algarve Pro Racing looks to return to the top step in ELMS competition.
